Ferrara School of Economics and Management

The Ferrara School of Economics and Management is an international study programme that combines academic merit with credits awarded for several of the following activities:

Master’s or specialist degree course (Level 2) students from the University of Ferrara that meet the necessary criteria will be awarded a Ferrara School of Economics and Management diploma, which, despite having no legal validity, is a sign of additional academic merit.

 

Premise & aims

The Ferrara School of Economics and Management has the aim of providing a training programme of particular excellence within the framework of the Master’s Degree course (equivalent) in Economics, Markets & Management.

The programme is designed to reward the most deserving students, who will be awarded credits for taking foreign language courses, study-abroad programmes (Erasmus+, Atlante or equivalent), joint study programmes with dual qualifications, work placements overseas, and/or theses written in a foreign language.

This programme of excellence is also designed to further increase the appeal of the Department of Economics & Management for foreign students, and will enable them to benefit from the experience of international Erasmus lecturers and Copernicus visiting professors.

 

Pre-requisites

Students wishing to apply for the Ferrara School of Economics and Management programme must possess the following requisites:

  • Level B2 English, certified by a pass mark in the English language module of the Bachelor’s degree course (equivalent) or an equivalent exam given by another University, or an internationally recognised language certificate.
  • Final mark of at least 100/110 in the Bachelors degree course (unless the weighted mean of the marks awarded in the Masters degree course is 27/30 or above)
  • Weighted mean of the marks awarded in the Masters degree course of 26/30 or above
  • At least 30 credits on the Master’s degree course deriving from exams taken as part of an Erasmus, Atlante, joint study abroad programme with dual qualification, work placements undertaken abroad, Master’s modules delivered in English.
  • Thesis (or substantial abstract) written in a foreign language on a topic of international relevance with review/presentation by an overseas lecturer (who may also be the thesis tutor), or presentation by a thesis supervisor and tutor from the Department of Economics & Management who attest the international relevance of the thesis.
  • Masters thesis to be presented no later than the special session of the first year beyond the normal duration of the course.

 

Diploma

To obtain the Ferrara School of Economics and Management it is necessary to apply to the course supervisors, who will assess the suitability of the application.

The Ferrara School of Economics and Management diploma is awarded upon completion of the study programme, to certify the excellence and international relevance of the studies undertaken, in an official ceremony (together with all the courses activated by the University) to take place in January–March of each year.
